On July 26, 2025, the Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology (FIET), RUTS led by Assistant Professor Chaiya Thanapatsiri, Dean, together with faculty administrators and the organizing committee, officially opened the Seamila Sandwalk Festival #2. The ceremony was presided over by Assistant Professor Udom Namsen, Vice President of RUTS Songkhla Campus, with attendance from Mr. Wanchai Prinya Siri, Mayor of Songkhla City, Mr. Somkiat Amnuaysuwan, Deputy Director of the Special Area Development Office for Sustainable Tourism, as well as local officials, residents, and tourists at Chalatat Beach, Songkhla.
The festival, held from July 26–27, 2025, aimed to promote creative tourism while conserving the environment and to elevate Songkhla’s coastline as a high-quality tourist destination. Activities showcased the creativity and energy of young people and local entrepreneurs, including:
- Sand Art and Sculptures by students from RUTS Faculty of Architecture, Thaksin University Faculty of Fine Arts, and Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus.
- A marketplace for over 150 vendors, featuring student-run businesses, local products, crafts, food, and handmade items.
- Beach activities such as SURF & SUP clinics and live music performances by various artists.
The festival exemplifies a collaborative effort between academia, government, and private sectors, highlighting RUTS’s role in transforming public spaces into creative learning hubs, fostering local economic development, and promoting sustainable tourism.
