FIET, RUTS Supports Field Assessment to Select Songkhla Old Town as a Model for Cultural Tourism

On July 18, 2025, the Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology (FIET), represented by Assistant Professor Methas Theppaitoon, Assistant Dean, and Assistant Professor Ranchakorn Janjampa, Head of Public Relations, participated in a field assessment to select the Songkhla Old Town community as a model for cultural tourism. The activity took place at the Red Rice Mill, Hab Ho Hin, Songkhla, in collaboration with government agencies and community networks.

The purpose of this field visit was to promote the development of Songkhla Old Town as a model of creative cultural tourism management that reflects the unique identity of the community and aligns with the principles of the Creative Economy.

FIET also presented the application of Augmented Reality (AR) technology to enhance cultural tourism in Songkhla Old Town through the Songkhla Alive platform, developed in collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture. This initiative aims to modernize the tourist experience while remaining accessible and contextually relevant to the old town’s lifestyle. Furthermore, it contributes to advancing the innovation ecosystem and local development by integrating knowledge, technology, and culture to sustainably boost the community’s economy, supporting concrete goals of a creative economy at the local level.
