FIET, RUTS Participates in “Roi Rai 100 Light” Festival — Advancing Songkhla Old Town as a Culture Smart City

On July 4, 2025, the Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology (FIET), Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), led by Asst. Prof. Chaiya Thanaphatsiri, Dean of FIET, joined the opening ceremony of “Roi Rai 100 Light” held at Area 36, Nongjik-Ramun Road, Songkhla Province.

In collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture, FIET co-organized an exhibition showcasing Augmented Reality (AR) technology and officially launched the “Virtual Tour of Songkhla Old Town” as part of the Culture Smart City: Songkhla Old Town Project. The event also featured student exhibition booths from both FIET and the Faculty of Architecture.

From July 4–6, the festival continued with a wide range of on-ground activities throughout Songkhla Old Town, including:

  • Check-ins at key spots like Area 36
  • Artistic alleyway walks (known as Roi Nai Ru)
  • Creative workshops and fashion shows
  • Guided tours of Hidden Art
  • A vibrant Art & Craft Market featuring handmade works by students and local entrepreneurs

FIET’s active participation in this event underscores its commitment to experiential learning, the integration of technology and culture, and its evolving role as a driving force for community development. This initiative reflects how universities can engage meaningfully in preserving heritage while fostering innovation and creative economies.
