On March 12, 2025, the Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology at Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV) organized the Professional Competency Development Program for Future Teachers. This event, part of an ongoing initiative led by experts from the industry, focused on enhancing teaching competencies for second-year students. The opening ceremony was presided over by Asst. Prof. Rithai Prathumthong, Head of the Teaching Practicum Unit, and was attended by faculty members and students from Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, and Electrical Engineering programs. The event took place at the Chuphan Meeting Room of the faculty.
The program featured a keynote lecture by Ms. Orachit Ratanasiri, General Administration Officer from the Songkhla Provincial Education Office. She delivered insights on “The Path to Becoming a Professional Teacher According to the Standards of the Teachers’ Council of Thailand.” Her presentation covered key criteria and processes required for meeting the Teachers’ Council’s standards, emphasizing the importance of skill and knowledge development in various aspects, such as lesson planning, student assessment, technology integration in teaching, communication skills, and teacher-student relationship building.
Additionally, the session highlighted the importance of hands-on experience, encouraging students to gain practical exposure through real-world teaching scenarios and develop problem-solving skills to tackle challenges in the classroom.
This initiative aimed not only to expand theoretical knowledge but also to strengthen practical skills essential for students as they prepare for their future teaching careers. Developing teaching competencies requires a solid foundation in subject knowledge alongside effective instructional strategies and classroom management skills, ensuring that future educators are well-equipped to foster a high-quality learning environment.
