From September 13 to 14, 2024, students from the Mass Communication Technology and Electrical Engineering programs of the Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology participated in the “4th Drone Technology and Innovation Application for Southern Tourism Promotion” project, held at Sarapee 2 Room, Songkhla Municipality, Songkhla Province.
The project aimed to enhance the potential of using drone technology to create media for tourism promotion. Dr. Wiparat De-Ong, Director of the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), presided over the opening ceremony and presented awards to the winners. The winning team, which received a cash prize of 5,000 baht, included Mr. Yutthana Wattanawongsiri, Mr. Worakan Burapan, and Mr. Sorawit Siriporn from the Mass Communication Technology program, along with Mr. Watcharapong Maneesaeng from the Electrical Engineering program, and 13 other group members from various organizations.
The project covered a wide range of learning activities, starting with an introduction to the laws related to drone aviation and the proper use of drones, followed by an exploration of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and their components, along with safety guidelines for operation. Students also learned various photography techniques using different camera angles to create promotional media for tourism, as well as theoretical and practical drone flying to produce media content.
This event attracted significant interest from students and professionals in related fields, marking an important development in the use of technology and innovation to promote tourism in Southern Thailand.
