August 23, 2024 – Assistant Professor Chaiya Thanaphatsiri, Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology at Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, was honored to attend the opening ceremony of the “Cultural Smart City: Songkhla Old Town” development project. The event, part of Activity 7 “Songkhla Creative Arts and Culture Festival,” took place at Ban Prapai, Nongjik Road, Muang District, Songkhla Province. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Mahama Piskree Wamae, Deputy Governor of Songkhla, with Assistant Professor Piya Pasongchan, Vice President of Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, along with university administrators, government officials, students, and the general public in attendance.
The project, organized by the Faculty of Architecture at Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, aims to support the development of a cultural smart city model in Old Town Songkhla. Activities under the project include evaluating and gathering feedback on the cultural smart city development, SONGKHLA CULTURAL ICONIC, innovative textile and fashion creations inspired by Songkhla’s cultural heritage, immersive art design to promote cultural tourism, and the development of a cultural smart city through creative art exhibitions and design in key locations in Old Town Songkhla.
This initiative represents a significant step in elevating Old Town Songkhla to a city that seamlessly integrates art and culture, while enhancing its potential to attract tourists from around the world.
